The Story of Napa Wine
Our exceptional Rhone-style Petite Sirah comes from our family winery in a small riparian valley in the northern end of Napa wine country. Palisades Vineyard is home to a cobbley loam soil and very hot summers, conditions favored by the strong vines that are the secret to our grapes.
Napa wine at Palisades Vineyard
The tradition of crafting Napa wine at our vineyard dates to 1902 when Domenico Barberis, an immigrant from the small village of Murialdo in Genoa, Italy, came to California to find work and make a safe homestead. He and his wife Gilda planted its first vines and crushed their first Napa wine soon after their wedding. The Barberis's had six children all of whom were born at Palisades Vineyard and who carried on the family's tradition of Napa wine for almost a century.
